When it comes to snowboarding, having the right gear is crucial. However, proper care of your snowboard clothing is equally important to ensure that they last longer and keep performing well. Washing your snowboard clothes may seem simple, but there are some tips and tricks to make sure they stay in good condition. Here are some guidelines to help you wash your snowboard clothes properly

Washing snow gear step by step

  1. Read the Care Label: Every piece of snowboard clothing comes with a care label that provides washing instructions. Make sure to read the label before washing your clothes to avoid damaging them.

  2. Pre-Treat Stains: Before washing your snowboard clothes, it is essential to pre-treat any stains to avoid them setting into the fabric. Use a stain remover or a mixture of baking soda and water to treat the stains.

  3. Use the Right Detergent: Using the right detergent is important to maintain the quality of your snowboard clothes. Avoid using fabric softeners as they can damage the fabric's water-repellent properties. Instead, use a detergent designed for technical and waterproof fabrics.

  4. Wash in Cold Water: Always wash your snowboard clothes in cold water to prevent shrinking or damaging the fabric. Use a gentle cycle and avoid washing them with other clothing items.

  5. Avoid the Dryer: Never put your snowboard clothes in the dryer as high heat can damage the fabric and ruin their water-repellent properties. Instead, hang them to air dry or use a drying rack.

  6. Re-Apply DWR: Over time, the Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating on your snowboard clothes wears off. To restore the water-repellent properties, re-apply DWR treatment after washing them.

  7. Store Properly: After washing and drying your snowboard clothes, store them properly in a cool, dry place. Avoid storing them in damp or humid areas, as this can lead to mold or mildew growth.
